Hello to all, just a quick update on the wheat harvest for 2019.
Whilst harvest is well underway in many areas of Australia (for those fortunate enough to have a crop) the estimates for the grain crops are still falling, with harvest results failing to meet expectation and earlier predictions.
Scorching hot September weather took a heavy toll on grain yields in Western Australia's northern cropping regions, where the harvest is 50% to 70% complete.
Current yields are 50% under the recent averages.
You can see a snapshot overview of the 2019 harvest across the country below.
South Australia and Victoria still have excellent yield potential as harvest progresses in these states.
There is hope that some of the shortfall from the other traditional growing regions will be covered by these areas. The harvest in these states is only now commencing and continues to experience further delays brought on by ongoing catastrophic weather conditions, including fire bans and
bushfires.
As the harvest continues and further market information becomes available, we will keep you informed.
